The Tech Lab is the technology research and development platform of the SDLs. R&D is done on intelligent anthropomatic and non-anthropomatic robotics and the corresponding interfaces to laboratory automation. These will greatly reduce the use of human working time through standardized and autonomously performed experiments and accelerate the generation of knowledge. In addition to robotics, we are also investigating a broad spectrum of miniaturized automation. The focus here is on controlling autonomous processes with the aid of light and thus operating on the nano to micrometer scale. The Tech Lab will certainly drive forward the development of technologies in the field of synthetic genomics and the synthesis of building blocks in order to create organisms or tools with completely new applications in autonomous research and to adapt reaction control to the SDLs.
